SENIOR CLOUD ENGINEER, Remote

JOB DESCRIPTION

Foghorn Consulting is hiring a Senior Cloud Engineer. In this role, you will work closely with a talented team of dynamic and passionate architects and engineers to deliver automated cloud infrastructure and DevOps solutions to Foghorn customers. We are obsessed with adding value and providing unprecedented levels of customer service, so you should be as well! This position may be subject to applicable client engagements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with DevOps and cloud infrastructure architects and engineers to design, implement and manage secure, scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure environments for Foghorn customers
  • Propose and implement cloud infrastructure transformation and automation based on customer requirements
  • Assist Foghorn customers in transforming their infrastructure to modern technologies and methods used to run microservices application architectures
  • Assist Foghorn customers in building, troubleshooting and optimizing container-based cloud infrastructure
  • Assist Foghorn customers in selecting, implementing, and tuning configuration management (CM) technology platforms
  • Assist Foghorn customers in selecting, implementing, and tuning continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) technology platforms
  • Assist Foghorn customers in ensuring operational readiness for launching secure and scalable workloads into public and hybrid cloud environments
  • Work with Foghorn customers to validate and troubleshoot existing CI and CM practices, and make recommendations for improvements and optimization
  • Work with Foghorn customers to validate existing infrastructure security, performance and availability and make recommendations for improvements and optimization
  • Implement infrastructure best practices for Foghorn customers in areas such as CI, CM, performance, scalability, security, and availability

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills suitable for director level, cloud engineering and architecture stakeholder meetings
  • Ability to facilitate the process of gathering requirements and providing alternative cloud infrastructure architecture options
  • Keen focus on customer service and an understanding that technology solutions must provide business value
  • 10+ years of experience managing large scale, production Linux and/or Windows environments
  • 3+ years of experience and deep working knowledge of one or more of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure
  • 2+ years of experience and deep working knowledge with HashiCorp Terraform on AWS, GCP or Azure including experience writing Terraform Modules 
  • 5+ years of experience with common application stacks (e.g. Apache, Nginx, Tomcat, Rails, NodeJS, PHP, etc.)
  • 5+ years of experience with configuration management tools and concepts (e.g. Chef, Ansible, Docker, Puppet, etc.)
  • 5+ years of experience with CI/CD tools and concepts (e.g. Jenkins, Travis CI, Hudson, Artifactory, etc.)
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL database and related technologies (e.g. MySQL, MS SQL Server, Redis, Memcached, MongoDB)
  • Experience with networking and security concepts, methods and technologies in large scale, production AWS, GCP, Azure and hybrid environments
  • Experience with log collection tools and analysis, as well as infrastructure performance monitoring tools and optimization practices
  • Strong working knowledge of container based infrastructure on AWS, GCP and/or Azure (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, ECS, AKS, GKE, etc.)

  • Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • Frequently required to travel to client locations
